Hiking
:
The main road west of koh Chang from klong son
to kai bae is a popular route. The Kai Bae to Bang Bao hike is a
challenging experience. passing through some coconut groves and rubber
smallholdings the terrain is steep. Shorter hikes to the waterfalls from
their main entrances are gaining popularity. There are footpaths to the
waterfalls.

Elephant
Treaking :
There are 2 elephant trekking operators in Koh Chang. The
Chang Chutiman Tour runs a 2 1/2 hour program that takes you in to the
National Park's tropical rainforest, apomelo orchart and the secluded
Wang Nam Keaw Waterfall where you can rest, picnic or swim in the
national pool.Mahouts will lend some elephant-handling lossons
while you enjoy environment. During the harvest seasons, in August and
September, guests are allowed to pick ripe pomelos frome the trees,
compliments of Khun (Mr) Chutiman himself. On return the elephant will
take a different track maximising your exposure to the wild vegetation,
giant tree and free wild life. Cold drings and coffee and served as You
refresh back at camp. The packege cost 800 Baht per person and
children under 5 years old ride free. If you don't have the
pleasure of time you can still experience the thrill using the one-hour
program althought short of the waterfall fun.Opens daily from 8.00 a.m.
to 5.00 p.m. you can start your tour any time of the day.
Ban Kwan Chang or the Klong Son Elephant Came is supporte by the Asian
Elephant Foundation to provide a natural environment for elephants there
mahouts (Kwan, in Thai). It is located a Klong son. The came opens with
a half-day tour from 8.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. which include elephant
bahting, feeding, performance and a 1 1/2 hour elephant trek in to the
forest. The cost is 900 Baht inclusive of tranportation to and from your
resort, your drinking water and bananas & coconuts for you to feed
the elephants.
A smaller program at 1:00 p.m.include a 35-minute trek and 15-minute
performance. fare is 450 Bht inclusive of transportation For

Massage
:
Along
the beaches you may find some experience masseuses who are ready to add
plesures to you leisure. A soothing one-hour massage on the beach cost
around 200 baht.There are several massage parlours scattered along the
main road.The Siam Aiyara practises Thai Traditional Medical Service
under the jurisdiction of the ministry of public health. Siam
Aiyara specializes in Health Massage and foot massage with techniques
handed down from generation.
Boating
:
Leisure trips can be arranged at most resorts, beaches fishing villages
and from Laem Ngop. Popular activities are snorkeling, scuba diving and
fishing. There are estrablishment along the white Sand Beach, klong Prao,
Kai Bea and Bang Bao that organise boat trip groups You can rigister to
join them. The cost is about 400 to 600 Baht per person but there is a
minimumreqired,usually 10 persons before they embark on a trip. Vanida
tour organises a full day snorkeling trip to Koh Rang, Koh Kra Koh Wai
at 600 Baht per head inclusive of lunch boxes and drinks. Private trips
can also be arranged at about 5,000 Baht for a full day of snorkeling.
The Klong prao Resort offers chartered speedboat trips to Koh Yuak
at 2,500 Baht or a 4-island package at 8,000 Baht. There are some
resorts on other island such as koh kood, Koh Mak, Koh Ngam, etc., that
include boat trips on their package rates.
For
the coastlines,try the sea-canoe which cost only about 100 Baht an hour
or about 500 Baht a day. They can be found along the beaches and some
resorts. Triyaks at Kai Bae Hut Shop cost 150 Baht per hour or 100 Baht
per hour for 2.
Snorkeling
& Diving :
Koh Chang Marine National Park offers some of
the most delightful dive & snorkeling sites. the best dive season
starts from October/November to Aprill.The best sites are on the west
and south of Koh Chang where the abundanceof technicoloured, healthy and
unspoilt corals and the great diversity of fish are the main draw.

Larp, Hin Sam Sao, Hin Look Bard, Hin Run Teak, Koh Rom, Koh Wai, Koh
Ngam, Koh Rang, Koh Laoya, Koh Mai Si Lek, Koh Raet, Koh Mak, Koh Kham,
Koh Rayang Yai, Koh Kra, Koh Thong Lang, Koh Thian, and Koh Yak.
There are 2 wreck dive sites. The Koh Chang wreck is a Thai warship
sunkenby the french Navy. The wreck lies in shallow waters near the
Salak Petch Bay, south of Koh Chang. The other wreck that has been
making headlines recently is the Pak One wreck. This was the
900-tonne sunken tanker that was called the Vertical Wrick. Pak One sank
after hitting a coral reef in August 1996 on its way to Vietnam.
Itresurfaced on February 6 this year and drifted bow-upwards into
international waters where is poses a danger to passing ships The Thai
navy had drained off its 600 tonnes of liquefied petrolleum gas
and resank it between Koh Chang and koh Samet. It now lies horizontal,
in 35- meter deep waters. There are a few diving centers on Koh Chang
such as the dive Adventure in Bang Bao which offers live
aboard dives to Cambodia & some prime sites. Koh Chang divers on
White Sand Beach, Sea Horse Dive Center on kai Bae Beach. Paradise Scuba
Divers at the Klong Prao Resort. A couple of dives centers operate out
of Koh Mak.
Boat
trips to various dives sites ranges from 1,300 Baht to 2,000 Baht
depending on distances. Snorkeling trips is about 645 Baht. Trips
may include 2 divers, full equipment, tranportation,food & drinks
and divemaster.
